What is 4, My Kids, Inc.?

4, My Kids is an organization soon to be non-profit that will help families eliminate debt and provide scholarships for teens.

What inspired the idea behind your business?

I have been broke! I have been without money for secondary education and so has my teenage daughter. The experience of life was behind the idea for this organization. I have been approved to use a debt elimination program from Pastor Ced Reynolds in my organization.

How long has it been since it launched?

The formation was launched in November of 2007

What is your company’s best selling product?

We don't have a product. 

How did you come up with your business name?

As a parent I do all things for my kids! ;)

 What was the process you went through to go from idea to successful business?

I am still working on success. The idea started, funding has to take place etc.  

What one lesson you wish you had known before you started?

Learning how not to procrastinate.

 Did you have any previous experience that you were able to apply to 4, My Kids, Inc.?

Yes, I have worked in the non-profit industry before; I know how hard it is to fund raise and create awareness in the community.

 What kind of things have you learned as a Mompreneur?

I have learned that your children watch your every move. They decide what is for their future and what is not. I have learned that you can use them to help you grow and work at your business, but they may not have the entrepreneurial bug.

 How does your family get involved?

When I ask them, they will help pack bags, and load the car for various events.

What one piece of advice would you like to share with other Moms who are thinking of starting their own business?

 Take it slow. Know your market/clientele and make sure it is a passion of yours!
